Revitalizing Mezieres-Sous-Lavardin is the challenge of the new municipal team and the mayor. The commune is committed to opening collective, cultural and social spaces that will allow people to meet and share in Mezieres. There are many projects: reopening of a localshop/cafe, restoration of a communal bread oven, renovation of a communal house to create an inter-associative space. It is on this last project that Concordia is involved this summer. The work will involve the restoration of the interior plasterwork of a house recently acquired by the municipality, to
create an inter-associative space (games library, library, place for local associations, creation of a shared garden, etc.) Enthusiastic about hosting their first volunteering workcamp this year, the extremely involved municipal councillors will warmly welcome you to help you discover Sarthe culture and its heritage and natural environment. They will be very happy to exchange with new people with rich and varied cultures. Exchanges between locals and volunteers are guaranteed.
Join the adventure! You will sleep in individual tents (bring your own sleeping bag, camping mat and tent if possible). The sanitary facilities and the kitchen will be in a building provided for the group. You will share the various collective tasks and prepare meals together. A budget will be allocated to the leaders and you will participate in the grocery shopping and the preparation of the meals, using preferably healthy and local products, and to exchange
your recipes if you wish.
The site will take place in a rural area. You will be cycling on a regular basis. Please bring gardening gloves, good enclosed shoes and working clothes. As nights can be quite cold, also remember to bring warm clothes. Do not forget to bring a camping mat, a sleeping bag for cold weather (and a tent if you have your own!).
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for it, and will
then be reimbursed once back in their home country.Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC(European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate.
