Description: The Goulburn Agricultural, Pastoral and Horticultural Society began in 1880. They organise the Goulburn Show each year, showcasing the very best of agricultural produce and related activities. Goulburn Show is one of the largest community events in the region. www.goulburnshow.com.au

Type of Work: For the volunteers it will be fun and rewarding to work with local community-minded people. The Show will take place on 7th and 8th March. You will work behind the scenes helping to put the Goulburn Show together, setting up infrastructure for the show and packing away afterwards. The work will be approximately 6-7 hrs a day with tasks as required, mostly physical with some moderate lifting. During the show, you will help for a few hours to run an information stall about international volunteering and sustainability. Your ideas welcome for this.

Study Theme: The workcamp will have a study part on sustainable living.

Accommodation: The team will live together in a small building at the showground. IVP will supply mattresses and extra blankets. Please bring your own sleeping bag. You can make a pillow by wrapping some clothes inside a shirt or towel. There will be a roster for cooking and cleaning. The town centre is a 20 minute walk away and there you can find supermarkets, post office, cinema, swimming pool.

Language: The language of the workcamp will be English.

Requirements: Wide brimmed sun hat, closed work shoes, work gloves. It is likely to be very hot but a cold snap would not be unusual. So bring clothes for all climates, including possible rain.

Approximate Location: Goulburn NSW (centrally located between Sydney and Canberra) is Australia's first inland city, a regional rural centre. Goulburn is home to many historic buildings and also to the monument the Big Merino, a sculpture that is the world's largest concrete constructed sheep. The area we now know as Goulburn Mulwaree was originally a very important meeting place for various Aboriginal clan groups – including Wiradjuri, Gundungarra, Tarlo, Lachlan, Wollondilly and Mulwaree.

Notes: You will have free tickets to the Show. You will learn about agricultural issues, in particular wool growing which has an important place in the history of Australia and Goulburn. There will be a whole day sightseeing trip, possibly to Canberra, and some time off for local sightseeing/shopping.

Extra fee to be paid in the hosting country:
130.00 Australian Dollar
Purpose of extra costs:
IVP is not-for-profit and 100% volunteer run. The extra cost will go towards catering and activities during the workcamp.
Príspevky
Extra participation fee 80.0 EUR
