Location and leisure
Ascaso is really a hamlet in the Pyrenees, next to the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido. Six houses and a church, which are a genuine representation of the traditional architecture of the High
Aragon. It was mainly abandoned in late 20th century but still neighbours return mainly on Summertime.
It is famous for its wall-walled solar clocks from the 19th century. The small village is full of old trails, which today are almost disappeared under the vegetation and with the walls backed Since 2012, a film
festival popularly called "The World's Smallest Film Festival" (“LA MUESTRA DE CINE MÁS PEQUEÑA DEL MUNDO”) organized only by volunteers and locals. The WorkCamp seeks to support a Film Festival and an integral recovery of the village and area, not only working in the Festival but also cleaning the trails and rebuilding the side walls. At the time, the place allows us to enjoy nature, discover very special corners of the Pyrenees or bathe in its magical rock pools. We plan some visits to Boltaña, to Ordesa National Park (walking tour to the Horsetail) and maybe an adventure tourism activity during weekends.
Project hosted by Association of Neighbors and Friends of Ascaso `Los Relojes ́ www.ascaso.jimdo.com.. has been working for about 20 years to recover the village of Ascaso and its community life. Its best known activity is the Ascaso Film Festival (www.cineascaso.org) known as “LA MUESTRA DE CINE MÁS PEQUEÑA DEL MUNDO” (The Worlds Smallest Film Exhibition), but it has carried out numerous campaigns and
activities aimed at recovering the village. More info about the Festival in www.cineascaso.org
Volunteers have to have physical capacity for manual work, open mentality for new cultures and to get involved with the local group
