Všeobecný popis The workcamp leaders will work as a team under the supervision of the project manager of the organization. They will be involved in preparing, organizing, running and evaluating nature-oriented, educational and environmental protection projects in Iceland. Those projects are organized with international volunteers and usually last for 10 – 14 days. In each group there are one or two leaders from the organization. At the end of each camp the project coordinator will be expected to produce an evaluation of the projects and their results.
At the beginning of the stay here, they will receive qualified training from the organisation members. This training will capacitate them to perform the projects ́ activities, which vary between cleaning beaches, planting trees and different kinds of environmental-related tasks to taking care of environmental awareness campaigns. At the same time, will receive guidance in how to plan, organize and lead the projects, including topics as group management, conflict resolution, bookkeeping, development, leader roles, intercultural cooperation, motivation, etc. They will also receive practical information about planning a project, spare time activities, first aid, etc. Typ práce Our primary activity is organizing environmental-related projects where people coming from different countries perform voluntary work. In organizing them, much emphasis has been put on making sure the volunteers see that their work is important, they help a community in need, or they work for the protection of the environment. In the meantime, they themselves form a community and get in close contact with locals as well as with other participants of the project from different cultures and nationalities. They find out about each other's habits and ways of life, also getting an insight to the problems of the area and its inhabitants.
In this project the leaders will organize and run programs for short term volunteers which will do 5 hours of environmental work during weekdays. The main work is cleaning the coastline in the area and to recycle the plastic that we find in the coast while cleaning. We will also open a workshop where we will recycle the plastic that we find at the coastline. The group will also do some renovation in the property of Worldwide Friends and in the garden Study theme For two hours a day from Monday to Thursday we will give a special focus on global warming and the volunteers will have workshops about climate changes. The issue of global warming is well known all over the world. The humanity must act in a more environmentally friendly way. The main goal of this project is to improve the environmental education and consciousness of the projects’ participants. Within the project we will learn about green energy, sustainable householding, waste treatment, nutrition, the effects of consumption and lots more. If you want to change something, develop solutions or inspire others, you have to understand the issues and tasks first. In addition to the theoretical part, we are going to practice sustainable work. For example, planting trees is one of the main exercises of the camps. Planting trees becomes a very useful action against climate change because trees absorb carbon dioxide, clean the air and prevent erosions. Take part in this promising project and spring into action against climate change! Ubytovanie During the workcamps the leaders will share a double and quadruple rooms in a house offering basic facilities. Beds are provided, however volunteers should bring their own warm sleeping bags. Food is provided and everyone is expected to do their fair share of the cooking and cleaning. Since it is always nice to try new and different dishes, volunteers are encouraged to bring along their favorite recipes from home! There is internet connection available in all houses.
