The city of Amilly cultivates a strong attachment to the European values of sharing and solidarity. Every year, the city organizes the Europe Day Fest and in 2020 it received the Europe Prize awarded by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. As a suburban city, Amilly has been protecting its natural areas for several years, including the 37 hectares of the Sensitive Natural Area of Savoies and Nepruns. In partnership with the local association France Nature Environnement, Les Corbeaux Gatinais Nature, and Concordia, Amilly would like to welcome a volunteering team to install an ornithological observatory in the Natural Area.
The contemporary art centre Les Tanneries, located near the Savoies and Népruns sensitive natural area, opened its doors in 2016 within a former industrial site notable in particular for its Great Hall. Place of exhibitions and creations open to the territory, the contemporary art centre will welcome in 2021 the artist Marie Lelouche for a long term residency, in connection with the inhabitants.
Within the Sensitive Natural Area of Savoies and Nepruns, you will participate in the construction of a wooden bird observatory which will be used by the association of nature protection "Les Corbeaux Gatinais Nature" to make an inventory of the fauna.
On the banks of the Loing, along the Canal de Briare, former quarries exploited by human have given way to ponds, wet meadows and woodlands, hosting a rich and fragile biodiversity. This 37-hectare site has been designated as a sensitive natural area by the city of Amilly, and is equipped with soft paths that welcome walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.
Using materials designed by a local company, the volunteers will build and assemble the observatory to allow the biodiversity protection associations to observe and follow the evolution of the local fauna.
You will also take part in creative workshops with the contemporary art centre Les Tanneries, located near the site, with the artist-in-residence Marie Lelouche, who works on birds, their songs, spaces and sounds.
You will be accommodated in a house in shared rooms. Remember to bring a sleeping bag and a floor mat to sleep on. You will have access to separate male/female bathrooms and showers. A fully equipped kitchen and dining area will also be available to you. With the budget allocated to the animation team, you will participate in the shopping and the preparation of meals, giving priority to healthy and local products. You can bring your own recipes to share with the group.

At 1 hour and half by train from Paris, the city of Amilly is located in the agglomeration of Montargis, between town and country, in the Loing valley, along the Briare canal, a route used by many bicycle tourists. It is distinguished by its natural heritage and in particular its 800 hectares covered by the forest of Montargis, but also by its heritage and its industrial past of the 19th century. You will have the opportunity to discover the region through hikes, along the rivers but also to swim on the beach of Chalette-Sur-Loing and to discover the city of Montargis.
The workcamp takes place in a suburban environment. For practical and ecological reasons, travel between the accommodation and the work site will be on foot. Remember to bring gloves, clothes and shoes suitable for outdoor work. Don't forget to bring a sleeping bag and a ground sheet to sleep on, as well as summer and rain clothes, a bathing suit and toiletries.
You can bring board games, a musical instrument or anything else you would like to share with the group.
Foreigners belonging to the European Union must bring with them a personal EHIC (European Health Insurance Card), and everybody must, in any case, bring their insurance certificate. If health issues happen on the project, volunteers will have to pay for them, and will then be reimbursed once back in their home country.
