Madelyn: April full of work

I was missing the sea and most importantly, my cats so I took a quick trip to Mallorca on Easter to visit my family, see my friends and eat my food.

From the goodness of my heart I brought “ensaïmada” to the office so everyone could taste it and know what Mallorca’s food tastes like.

After recharging batteries at home, I came back ready to be in Bratislava which I incredibly missed.

Barbara told us to prepare the promotion for the schools to our workshops so we worked on it and so soon we will be having teenage participants to our presentations.
During the month, we have been making promotion and marketing: post, stories, reels, programming the promos… It’s been really interesting seeing how everything is done from inside and Mirka has been the one in charge of showing us how it works.
She also made a presentation for us about Slovakia showing us the culture, the places and the traditions. I was very interesting, but they highlight was the ending where we could try traditional food, the Slovak cheese was my favorite.

Mirka did a lot of work with us this month because we also went together to the university to talk about the projects we are in and what was or motivation to join it since the students had difficult time imagining what the volunteering program as the one Vaso, Berra and I are in. I hope we shared with them all we could to motivate them to participate any time in the future.

The workcamp of Svätý Jur occurred in the middle of the month. I wasn’t expecting a lot but I really enjoyed my time there. Mima was the leader of the workcamp which was exciting for me, but I didn’t receive any special treatment. We helped with the renaissance castle where there were a patio and a small restaurant, our mission was to clean, garnering, paint …

As a reward afterwork we were given ice cream and cake and just like that it was already my favorite workcamp I’ll ever do. It was a beautiful place and I’m glad there’s people who’s doing all they can to save up art culture like that.

My favorite place there was the atelier, I went crazy over the amount of art material and how cozy was the place.

The week after was Earth day so INEX prepared a volunteering day at the ZŠ Lachova, we learned it was a regular activity to help this school so other organizations also joined the work and

As per usual, my friends and I organized a trip last minute. We went to Budapest for the weekend. I love the city, Vaso told me that it was her favorite city, but I didn’t know what to look forward. Vaso initiate by herself a mini-statues hunting so we spend some part of the trip looking for the famous statues around the city until two of us got tired and just went walking along the river.

I have to admit that I wanted to look for a specific mini statue that I keep seeing on social media so on Sunday before our departure they went together with me to find the vampire mini statue which I found the coolest one. I left Hungary feeling like there’s many more to see but my best friend and I have already planned to visit Budapest again on June.

Since I am from an island I find it very practical being able to be in another country with a two hour bus so I want to go everywhere I can as long as I am here.

One of the highlights of the month was the tea meeting, the initial idea didn’t go as planed so we needed to come out with another idea to the presentation.
So, the new topic was theater improvisation which was hosted by Berra. She knew about the theater world already and shared with us the knowledge she had.

The girls and I invited all of our friends to join so the presentation was filled with our people having fun. It was a lovely evening and I’m glad the initial meeting didn’t happen because we had a great time and everyone enjoyed themselves.

I think Bratislava has made me lose track of time, it feels like I’ve been here for at least two years, and it’s only been three months. I can’t wait to make the trips that I’ve planned, go through the challenges this project has as being a leader on workcamps or doing the workshops.

Thank you for the support
