Madelyn: Surviving June’s weather

June started with terrible weather, the week before was incredibly hot and suddenly, there was rain going on.
My boyfriend came to visit me at the beginning of the month, so he was right on time to experience how weird Slovakia’s weather is. Besides the rain, I still took him to visit some of the touristic points of Bratislava and we had a nice time together. He even went with me to Lachova school so I could present my workshop.

I delivered my workshop in this high school on the 2nd of the month and since it happened during one of my days off I did not prepare too much for it. I was very nervous when I entered the classroom, all the children were looking at me and I felt pressure.
I presented my workshop twice, in the first class I lost a lot of time trying to find the material I needed so I had to cut some parts off but for the second class I was calmer and we managed to go through everything.

The kids were lovely and very participative; I was a little scared they were not going to be interested, but they listened and were present during the presentation. I enjoyed it and I’m happy that afterwards at the office they told me at the school they wanted me to deliver my presentation again, which we are doing around September.

Next activity was Naše Mesto where we went again to Lachova school to help: we were cutting branches and cleaned the surroundings of the place. The girls and I did a good job at cleaning and gardening.

Right after I took a trip to Krakow by bus, I took the night bus from 11 pm to 6 am, which I still don’t know if it was one of the best decisions Ive ever made, but I was incredibly excited to go to Poland, so I didn’t think it twice.
We spent there the weekend, and it was so beautiful I took way too many pictures.

After this trip the weather changed drastically and we changed all long clothes for shorts, I can notice it mostly inside of the house. My room feels like an oven even though I have little fan on, now I am not that happy summer is here.We had a tea meeting about el Camino de Santiago presented by Magdalena, it was very interesting hearing about the whole experience and how demanding it was for her.
Me and my best friend might do it next year so it was a good information source.

The office organized a barbecue where there was some people who we knew. So we had an amazing dinner together and Vaso, Berra and I danced to some of our songs and Barbara and Katka joined us, maybe because we asked them to, so we could have fun all together.

We also had a meeting with Mirka to schedule our marketing plan because from July our schedules will not align as much as they do now. We are still struggling a bit with it but we are coming up with ideas and recording ourselves to be able to boost INEX’s social media.

The end of the month came, and it was the time that I was expecting since the beginning of the year. During my previous job I got to save up some money, and I got tickets to BTS concerts who are one of my favorite artists since I started college.
Two of my friends from home and I went to Madrid and reunited just to be in the concert.
The way there was a nightmare for me because my flight was overbooked and in the middle of the stress of finding an alternative way to get to Madrid, I had to fill in a form and discuss with the poor employee at the front desk so they could compensate me. The story had a happy ending because I could attend to one of the best nights of my life.

This month was a rollercoaster of emotions because I had so much fun, but it also included goodbyes, people so close to my heart left Bratislava and for some of them I don’t know if I am going to be able to see them again. So I cried a lot as well and really hope to see them all at some point of our lives.

I’m waiting for the workcamps to start, I’m wondering how I am going to deal with all the responsibility.

Thank you for the support
