6. March 2026

Tea Meeting: Discover Ecuador and Turkey (18.03.2026 6.00 p.m.)

In March, active volunteers Katka and Peťo will take us to Ecuador and Galápagos Islands and tell us about their travels around the country and interesting experiences, from swimming with seals and marine iguanas to hiking around volcanic mountains.

We will find out:

  • What is it like to hike at almost 4 000 meters altitude?
  • Which cathedral has tiles imported from Czechoslovakia and which one is rumored to be the cause of the end of the world?
  • Who is Lonesome George, and why is he an important symbol in the Galápagos Islands?
  • What certificate has Peťo received on the equator line?
  • Why is Chimborazo technically higher than Mount Everest?

During this presentation Madelyn, one of our ESC volunteer, is going to give us some interesting insights about Ecuador as someone who was born there so we can also have a perspective from someone who has lived there.

  • What’s the most popular celebration in the country?
  • Which dish is the most famous in the coast region of the country?

We are also very happy to have our ESC volunteer Berra with us from March, we will explore her motivation for joining INEX through the European Solidarity Corps and other curiosities about her country and culture.

  • Where can you find one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world?
  • Which DC comic hero is linked to the birthplace of Berra?

To make it more fun, we’ll have a little tasting Katka and Peťo brought form Equador a quiz and traditional dish from Turkey.
