The workcamp is organized in cooperation with an Association of Friends of the Krkonose Nature. They help protect the Krkonose Mountains nature, landscape, monuments and memory of the mountains. The association unites friends of the Krkonose nature and, in cooperation with the Krkonose National Park Administration, organizes and supports their activities. The association aims to protect nature and landscape and to support activities and cooperation with public and private entities in the field of nature and landscape protection. The association also deals with education and educational activities, especially environmental education, training and enlightenment. The aim of the project is to acquaint participants with the unique mountain ecosystems of the Krkonose National Park, to involve them in the restoration and protection of their species diversity and, last but not least, to motivate local nature protection in their place of residence.In this workcamp, you are actively working for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of Sustainable Cities and Communities (UN SDG11) and Life on Land (UN SDG15).
The work will be physical and it will include: taking care of the forest (cleaning of pruning after logging, repairing fences against animals, peeling of tree bark after bark beetle infestation,), taking care of meadows (raking, removal of invasive trees and invasive plants,), restoration of meadows, taking care outside the forest (collection and cleaning of garbage, disposal of illegal dumps, cleaning of gutters,). Most of the work will be outdoors, so we recommend volunteers to bring suitable clothes, shs and a raincoat. Study part: Science excursions and lectures, tour of Krkonose Environmental Education Center Krtek in Vrchlabi, organization of an international evening according to the nationality of volunteers, workshops on topics from environmental education and nature protection.
You will stay in a mountain cottage- sleeping in rooms for 3-5 people on beds with blankets. There are toilets, showers and a kitchen in the cottage. You will prepare your own meals together as a group. As part of reducing the ecological impact of the workcamp, we will prepare mostly meatless meals.

Due to current travel restrictions we only accept volunteers from Europe, who do not need visa to enter Czech Republic. Participation fee: Due to limited outgoing resources of INEX-SDA, we kindly ask participants to contribute 25 EUR towards the costs of general incoming administration of our workcamps. The fee will be collected upon arrival. Please note that this fee ds not directly contribute to the workcamp budgets.

The workcamp will take place in Krkonose National Park (eastern part) and specifically in areas of Rychor, Male Upy, Pece pod Snezkou, Marsov.Leisure time: There are many possibilities for trips such as trips in the Krkonose Mountains (Snezka, Labska bouda, Pancavsky waterfall), treetop trail in the Krkonose Mountains, trip to the ZOO in Dvur Kralove nad Labem, Trutnov swimming pool, games and discussions with environmental topics, visits to Krkonose museums, learning about traditional Krkonose crafts, etc.
